Technology Review

My favorite technology tool that we used is Edmodo. The link to Edmodo is https://www.edmodo.com/. I like this tool because it is really easy to use for both students and teachers.  As a teacher I would use Edmodo to make my classes available for students online. This makes it possible for students who miss school to stay caught up with the class. I would also use the calendar tool within Edmodo to remind students of upcoming events and activities.

Social Networking

       The social networking site I researched was vine. https://vine.co/ .Vine allows users to post and share short videos up to about six seconds long. I like how this site has channel icons that a user can click on when searching for certain videos. I also like how vine allows users to take a couple of short clips and put them together to get the full clip. I don’t like how the videos are so short. I also don’t like how you can’t take a video from your camera role to upload at a later time. As a teacher I could use this site in education to get ideas for quick and easy crafts to make with my students.  Like many other social networking sites, vine can be dangerous if a user puts too much personal information on, or if they share their location. Vine has a geo-locator that can be a problem when it comes to online predators.  I have not personally used this site and I don’t plan on using it in the future. I don’t see it as a necessity. There are other resources and sites that I use, or can use, that I think are more useful. 

Writing tools

3. Padlet is a free online tool for teachers and students to use in the classroom to ask and answer questions and also to post thoughts on certain topics.
4. One way to use padlet with students is to create a wall in which the teacher posts a question and the students must in turn post their answer.

My blog introduction

I am currently a freshman at the University of Great Falls studying Elementary Education. I am an active member of the Providence Formation Program and I am also involved in a few clubs. I am creating this blog for my educational technology class in order to help me understand how to use it as a teacher and in the classroom.
